Museums History & Historic Attractions Tours & Trips

A wonderful museum dedicated to the history of life in Lincolnshire. The museum has built up a collection of over 250,000 items over the years.

Lincolnshire is famous as the birthplace of the tank - providing a working protype in January 1916, during WWI - this and many, many more engineering marvels can be seen at the museum.

Exhibits include commercial, domestic, agricultural, industrial and community life, spanning back to 1750, right up to present day.

The museum is housed in the Victorian barracks built for the Royal North Lincoln Militia in 1857.  It is a fine example of Victorian military architecture and is a Grade II listed building.

Entry to the museum is entirely free. Donations are welcomed - the museums upkeep relies heavily on your generosity.
